CDC OPENS ON FT. RILEY

CDC Ribbon Cutting;
To better serve our Soldiers and Family members, Fort Riley held a
ribbon cutting ceremony for the 1st Division Child Development Center
January 8th. General Brooks and Mrs. Brooks was on hand along with Col
Brown and a Fort Riley Family to officially cut the ribbon opening this
brand new facility. Invitees then enjoyed a tour of the new facility
along with refreshments provided by Briggs Auto Group.

The Combative Tournament on April 3, 2009 was a great success with Soldiers from the “Big Red One”. The units were from 1st Infantry Division 1/16, 2/16, 1/28, 1/34 and 1st Engineer group. But we can’t forget the WTB, and DHHB. The building was bustling with Soldiers and families sitting like in an arena watching a WWF fight. The excitement was overwhelming with yelling for the favorite fighter to bring down his opponent. But the best part that seemed all the Soldiers enjoyed was the Family Readiness Group snack station from EOD 84th, 630th, 162nd, and the 774th these wife’s supplied hot dogs, nachos, Bar-B-Beef sandwiches, sausages sandwiches, and sodas. The Soldiers couldn’t get enough. Everyone had a blast watching the first combative tournament ever held at Ft. Riley !Flyweight

Forces Command (FORSCOM) awards volunteers the Mary E. Walker award. The award is given to spouses of soldiers who exemplify volunteerism in there Soldiers unit, organizations and Army installations. The awardees truly are the best of the best!

Briggs extends its congratulations and a saber, a symbol of the cutting edge of our military, which these two great Soldiers represent. Congratulations go to SSG Nathaniel McClure, DHHB, 1st Infantry Division as NCO of The Quarter and PFC Ryan Vineyard as Soldier of The Quarter. Being selected singles them out as the best Ft. Riley has. Their performance and positive attitude are key to being selected. They will compete again for NCO and Soldier of The Year.
